Electric Wire Hustle - Electric Wire Hustle (2009)

Another Friday is here and I think it calls for something with a little groove. The first full length from this crew out of New Zealand will not disappoint. Glowing vocal hooks and plump bass lines set the mood right. Put some love in you.

Nujabes / Fat Jon - Departure (2004)

Today, news has surfaced that Jun Seba aka Nujabes, died on February 26, 2010. The outpouring of emotion and admiration from his fans is coming from around the globe. I was enthralled with his vibe the first time I heard him and he soon became essential late night listening. I'm posting this album in his memory. May his music live on.

Peace Orchestra - Peace Orchestra (1999)

The first solo outing by Peter Kruder, half of Kruder & Dorfmeister. He maintains the laid-back percussion but adds a spacey ambiance that creates more of a soundtrack experience. Listen with ears open and eyes closed.

Kruder & Dorfmeister - Original Bedroom Rockers

This isn't an official release but it is an encompassing look into what makes these two men the kings of chillout. Genre defining tracks from their first EP are included and so is the extended remix of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's "1st Of Tha Month". Get G-Stoned.

Third P - Space Traveler (2009)

Traveling through Space on the same orbit as Ras G and Samiyam, Third P crosses saw waves and sine waves to create short passages of 8-bit noise without lacking undertones. It's not entirely original, but it is entirely delectable.

In the words of AFTA-1: Selections of Audible Love is a sound scape of tracks old and new, featuring a collection of good friends, contemporaries, and other artists influential in my own musical journey. “Sit still”, twist one up, light the incense and enjoy."

Flying Lotus - Reset EP

There isn't much else to say about this man other than that he's pushing hip-hop boundaries and has created quite a following doing so. I always keep this EP close when I need my FlyLo fix.

Nujabes - Modal Soul Classics (2008)

This is a gathering of different artists compiled by Nujabes. The mix is indeed soulful and delivers a superb combination of Hip-Hop and Jazz. Feel the love.

Reanimator - Music to Slit Wrists By (2003)

Deadly samples and killer drums will make you die. Enough said.

Thanks to Curtis @ Cochlear Implant for the recommendation.

The Cinematic Orchestra - Every Day (2002)

With a virtuosic blend of live instrumentation and subtle electronics, these songs are able to distort your perception of time and reality. Movements that span ten minutes feel like introspective journeys that allow you to take your own path with the assurance of pleasurable resolve.

Eliot Lipp - Live from the Beat Bunker (2009)

An excellent mix stitched together by one of my favorite producers out there. Fans of Deceptikon will like this one.

AFI - All Hallow's EP (1999)

I have to give this CD a spin every October 31st. Happy Halloween!

Dert Floyd - The West Side of the Moon (2008)

This digital only concept album uses samples taken from the vastness that is Pink Floyd. It's interesting to hear how he chops everything to bits, then drops huge beats on top, making it difficult to actually tell what song the cut came from. I believe this man is a true player in the future of hip-hop.

More full albums from Dert here and here.

Kid Loco - Jesus Life for Children Under 12 Inches (1999)

We're going back ten years now but it's hard to tell by listening. Kid Loco was an innovator in the early trip-hop days, strange considering his background playing punk rock. This is his own remixes of the '97 US debut A Grand Love Story. It's so dreamy.

Boozoo Bajou - Dust My Broom (2005)

Boozoo Bajou is one of those artists I start playing and let it play on from album to album. Their music is, in one word, comforting. The scene here is a swamp, so the atmosphere is muggy and thick bass lines hang low in the air.

Tosca - Suzuki (2000)

The clouds are beginning to move in, the temperature is dropping, and the rain falls throughout the night. Moving into darker territory with Tosca's most popular album. Usually I would post something a little less known, but it's too good to pass up. We have a classic here.

J.Viewz - Muse Breaks (2005)

Floating vocals and spacious auras carried by solid bass grooves and an arsenal of rhythms. It's rambunctious at times...but chill...

Nicolay - City Lights Volume 1.5 (2005)

I remembering hearing The Foreign Exchange for the first time and wondering where those tight beats were coming from. Tracks like "Raw Life" had me hooked. The answer is Nicolay from The Netherlands. Over the last few years he has taken the sound you have here and expanded it into new dimensions and genres, but it started with this.
